September 2026 Meeting

The September EVAPA meeting will be a rare Saturday outing. We will meet on Saturday Sept 12th. Mike O. has arranged a tour of John Christensen’s collection that also includes a tour and demonstration of their Hops operation. Hops are raised as an ingredient to make beer. The buildings will be open starting at 9am and should conclude around noon. We will have a short meeting just before lunch at 11:30. There will be lunch served consisting of pulled pork and sides around noon. This collection should be interesting, and you won’t want to miss it. The address is 4206 US 75. This is just south of Ft. Calhoun on the east side of the highway. There are 2 buildings together with one painted up in patriotic colors. PLEASE bring a chair for lunch as there are no places to sit.

The EVAPA annual antique tractor pull will take place on Sat Sept 19th beginning at 4pm. This will be at the motorsports arena on the south end of the Sarpy County Fairgrounds in Springfield, NE. They will again be using member Dave Fischer’s Dragon Pulling Sled (formerly the Little Red Sled) Rich Braesch is the coordinator and we can always use members help to make this a success.

Nelson’s Truck and Tractor Days will be held Sept 19 & 20 in Valley. Please bring a tractor out for the weekend if you are able. This event draws a great crowd and is great exposure for the club. You are able to bring tractors out Friday if needed. Jim Davenport has additional details.

Getting Ready For the Fair

EVAPA will hold their annual show at the Sarpy County Fair on Aug 1 & 2. Although we have given our oats ground back to the fair board this year, you can see below what it looked like in the past. This will be brome grass this year to feed the livestock at the fair. The threshing machine will still be on display for a close-up view of how the separation of oats from the chaff took place many many years ago.
